Loving your family and needing more understanding can both be true.

Pete Drake is a Black adoptee who was raised in a white adoptive family. His mentorship is shaped by the experience of loving his family while also working through questions of race, identity, belonging, gratitude, loss, and what it means to become your own person. He created Somebody Like Me so adoptees and foster youth could have the kind of conversation many of them have never had with someone who genuinely understands.

I want adoptees and foster youth to have honest conversations earlier—with somebody who can understand the feeling without asking them to translate every part of it first.
